Medicover Hospitals Opens Dedicated Andrology Unit in Navi Mumbai, Expanding Specialized Men’s Healthcare

Medicover Hospitals has launched a specialised Andrology Unit in Navi Mumbai, the first of its kind in the region focused on male reproductive and sexual health. The facility offers confidential consultations, advanced diagnostics, and microsurgical treatments under one roof.

The unit is led by Dr. Sanish Shringarpure, Urologist and Andrologist, along with Dr. Vikas Bhise, Urologist. The team aims to provide ethical and personalised care for men who often hesitate to seek medical help for sensitive health concerns.

Andrology is a specialised branch of urology dealing with male fertility, sexual health, hormonal balance, and structural conditions affecting the male reproductive system. The new centre will treat issues such as male infertility, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, varicocele, testosterone deficiency (hypogonadism), Peyronie’s disease, obstructive azoospermia, and abnormalities of the testicles or penis.

According to the hospital, the unit also offers advanced procedures including microsurgical varicocelectomy, penile prosthesis implantation, and specialised sperm retrieval techniques such as TESA, TESE, and micro-TESE, which support assisted reproductive treatments like IVF and ICSI.

Other treatments include hormonal therapy for hypogonadism, surgery for penile curvature, PRP and shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction, and medically supervised penile lengthening procedures. The centre will also conduct gender reassignment surgeries following proper hormonal evaluation and multidisciplinary consultation.

Dr. Sanish Shringarpure noted that men’s sexual and reproductive health has often been overlooked, leading many patients to rely on unsafe or unscientific treatments. He emphasised that conditions such as infertility, erectile dysfunction, and hormonal imbalance require proper medical evaluation.

Dr. Vikas Bhise added that several cases of erectile dysfunction and infertility are linked to underlying urological conditions like varicocele or obstructive azoospermia. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can help manage these conditions effectively.

Sandip Joshi, Centre Head at Medicover Hospitals, Navi Mumbai, said the new unit aims to encourage open conversations around men’s health while providing specialised care in a confidential environment.
