Artemis Medicare’s ₹700 Crore Fundraise Plan Signals Massive Hospital Expansion Drive

Artemis Medicare Services Ltd. has outlined plans to secure up to ₹700 crore via a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), a move aimed at financing its broad hospital expansion strategy over the coming years.

The Gurugram-based healthcare provider intends to deploy this proposed capital toward both greenfield and brownfield initiatives to significantly increase its capacity and geographic reach. Among the projects on the horizon is a new 300-bed facility in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, expected to begin operations by May 2026.

In its growth projections, Artemis is targeting a substantial rise in bed count — aspiring to expand from its current capacity to approximately 1,700–2,300 beds by 2029 — reflecting a substantial scaling of its network in response to surging demand for quality care services.

As part of this strategy, the company is also enhancing its presence within the National Capital Region. Plans include increasing capacity at its flagship hospital in Gurugram, and entering a large-scale partnership in South Delhi to establish an approximately 650-bed quaternary care facility through an operations and management deal with an existing medical institution.

Artemis’s leadership has highlighted the role of international medical tourism in driving revenue, with a notable portion of its income coming from patients travelling from abroad — a high-margin segment that is expected to help underwrite its expansion plans and strengthen the balance sheet.

Financial metrics published by the company show solid recent revenue and profit growth, which Artemis says contributes to confidence in moving forward with an ambitious QIP. The firm also aims to use part of the potential funds to reduce net debt and improve financial flexibility.

Artemis’s expansion plans come amid a highly competitive environment where major private hospital groups are also scaling up capacity aggressively to meet India’s rapidly growing demand for specialised and high-quality healthcare services.
