Aster DM Healthcare Scales Up Mobile Medical Units, Targets 100 Units Across 25 Countries by 2027

Marking its 39th Foundation Day, Aster DM Healthcare announced a significant expansion of its community health initiatives through Aster Volunteers, the group’s global CSR platform. The healthcare provider has outlined plans to roll out 100 Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services (AVMMS) units by December 11, 2027—its 40th anniversary—while also expanding its volunteer base to 100,000 people with the aim of reaching nearly 8 million individuals worldwide.

At present, Aster Volunteers is active in 20 countries, supported by more than 95,000 volunteers and serving over 7 million beneficiaries. As part of the next phase of growth, the organisation intends to extend its presence to 25 countries by entering five additional markets in Africa and the Middle East. Its existing network of 67 mobile medical units delivers essential primary healthcare services directly to remote and underserved populations.

Through the Aster DM Foundation in India, the group has earmarked an investment of Rs 120 crore over the next three years to strengthen radiation and oncology services across its hospitals. The initiative includes the establishment of five free Radiation Therapy Units, aimed at improving access to advanced cancer treatment for patients from economically weaker sections.

The latest additions to the AVMMS network include the 67th mobile unit launched in Chad in collaboration with the country’s Ministry of Health, and the 66th unit introduced in India in partnership with Ganpat University in Mehsana, Gujarat. These units are equipped with IoT-enabled telemedicine facilities, diagnostic services, medicine distribution, consultation areas, and solar-powered spaces for health education, underscoring Aster’s emphasis on technology-driven and sustainable healthcare delivery.

Since the programme began, AVMMS units have provided medical care to more than 2.6 million people across India, the Middle East, and Africa. Each unit offers a comprehensive range of services, including medical consultations, diagnostics, treatment, and community health awareness, helping bridge healthcare gaps in hard-to-reach regions.

Vision rooted in compassion
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, said: “Healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. On our 39th Foundation Day, we are proud to scale AVMMS to 100 units across 25 countries. This expansion reflects our dedication to compassionate care, social responsibility, and building healthier communities worldwide.”

The planned expansion of AVMMS aligns with Aster Volunteers’ long-term strategy to develop sustainable healthcare models, empower local communities, and contribute to improved global health outcomes. Alongside its healthcare initiatives, Aster DM Healthcare has also committed to planting one tree for every Asterian by 2027, reinforcing its broader focus on environmental stewardship and social impact.
