Daya General Hospital Raises ₹150 Cr to Scale Operations Across Kerala

Daya General Hospital, a well-established healthcare institution with more than two decades of experience, has secured ₹150 crore in equity funding from private equity firm Ascent Capital. This investment will fuel the hospital group’s ambitious growth roadmap, which includes a total planned outlay exceeding ₹500 crore over the next five years.

Dr. V.K. Abdul Azeez, Managing Director of Daya Group of Hospitals, described the funding as a landmark moment for the organisation. He said: “Daya General Hospital has steadily grown from a community-focused institution into one of the leading multispecialty healthcare providers in central Kerala. This investment marks a significant milestone in our journey, enabling us to expand our infrastructure and enhance our service capacity. We aim to increase our current 500-bed facility to 1,500 beds, ensuring greater access to quality care across both general and specialty services.”

Highlighting the group’s clinical expansion plans, he added: “A key part of this expansion is the development of a dedicated Oncology Super Specialty Centre in Thrissur, slated to be operational by 2026, bringing medical, surgical and radiation oncology under one roof for comprehensive cancer care. We are also progressing with plans for a state-of-the-art Mother & Child Centre, further strengthening maternal and neonatal care for the region. Our focus remains on building an advanced and patient-centric healthcare ecosystem for the future.”

Beyond strengthening its base in Thrissur, Daya General Hospital is evaluating opportunities to extend its footprint to other parts of Kerala. Proposed projects and outreach initiatives are being planned for Malappuram and Calicut, with the objective of improving access to advanced medical services in North Kerala and addressing regional healthcare gaps.

At present, Daya operates four healthcare facilities across the state—located in Thrissur, Kunnamkulam, Palakkad, and the Valapad Emergency Care Centre. The network employs nearly 1,500 clinical and non-clinical staff. With the proposed expansion, the group anticipates creating more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing significantly to Kerala’s healthcare workforce.

The collaboration with Ascent Capital, which has a strong track record of investing in healthcare and high-growth sectors, is expected to accelerate Daya’s scale-up plans. The funding will support infrastructure development, adoption of advanced medical technologies, digital transformation, and overall capability building across departments, particularly in tier-two and tier-three markets.
