Ahmedabad hosted a remarkable medical event as the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) 100th national conference, NATCON 2025, concluded with a special ceremony recognising 100 senior doctors aged 75 and above from across Gujarat for their lifelong dedication to healthcare.
The two-day conference, organised by IMA Gujarat, attracted more than 5,000 doctors from India and overseas, with over 500 research abstracts and presentations submitted, according to Dr Mehul Shah, president of IMA Gujarat and a key member of the conference secretariat.
Keynote sessions featured insights from leading medical experts including Dr Ramakant Panda, Dr B Bhaskara Rao, Dr Shashank Joshi, Dr Rakesh Shah and Dr Aseem Shukla, who addressed advancements in evidence-based practices and the integration of modern technology in patient care.
In alignment with the conference’s focus on comprehensive health, a special book was also released, containing detailed wellness articles penned by 100 distinguished doctors and offering accessible tips for healthier living, Dr Shah shared.
The event’s agenda covered a broad range of contemporary medical challenges and themes, including vector-borne illnesses, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, hospital certification processes and the evolving healthcare startup landscape.
Among the distinguished guests attending the closing ceremony were Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who joined delegates in honouring the veteran physicians.
Organisers emphasised the conference theme of blending “cutting-edge technology with age-old wisdom,” highlighting the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in transforming medical practice while underlining the importance of continuous learning and ethical service in the profession.
