Max Healthcare Institute Ltd has announced plans to strengthen its presence in Maharashtra with a major investment in Pune. The company’s board has approved the acquisition of Yerawada Properties Private Limited (YPPL) at an estimated cost of about ₹200 crore, alongside an additional investment of up to ₹1,020 crore to build a 450-bed super speciality hospital in the city.
The takeover of YPPL will take place in stages. In the initial phase, Max Healthcare will purchase all Class A equity shares, securing complete voting control and approximately 50.22 per cent economic ownership. The balance economic stake, represented by 100 per cent of the Class B equity shares, will be acquired progressively over the next four years. This subsequent acquisition will be linked to the achievement of specific milestones, including receipt of the occupancy certificate for the hospital facility.
YPPL owns a 1.68-acre freehold plot in Yerawada, a well-connected and central area of Pune, considered suitable for developing a large-scale hospital. The planned outlay of ₹1,020 crore covers the cost of land, construction, medical equipment, stamp duty, and other related expenses. Development of the hospital is expected to span around four years and will be funded through a combination of internal resources and term loans. The company stated that no regulatory approvals are needed to complete the share acquisition.
The expansion comes at a time when Max Healthcare’s hospitals are operating at high utilisation levels, with network occupancy exceeding 76 per cent during the first half of FY26. As of September 30, 2025, the company had an operational capacity of roughly 5,200 beds. Max Healthcare clarified that the transaction does not involve related parties, and neither its promoters nor promoter group have any stake in YPPL. Pune has been identified as a key growth market due to its expanding population, improving income levels, and rising demand for advanced healthcare services.
