Ahmedabad is set to welcome a major new healthcare investment from the Torrent Group, marking the conglomerate’s decisive move into the hospital sector. Through its unit Torrent Hospitals Private Limited, the company has announced plans to build a large multispecialty hospital with more than 500 beds along the SP Ring Road in the city, backed by an investment exceeding ₹750 crore.
The parcel of land earmarked for this project spans nearly 14,000 sq metres, with a proposed built-up area of around 95,800 sq metres, positioning this facility among the more substantial private healthcare developments in Ahmedabad.
Torrent’s expansion into full-service hospital care builds on its earlier healthcare ventures, including the launch of Torrent Diagnostics in 2022, reflecting a broader strategy to offer comprehensive medical services that span pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and tertiary care.
The company acquired the land for the hospital in mid-2025 for approximately ₹247 crore, and with approvals now advancing, the facility is expected to create about 2,400 jobs once operational.
This initiative aligns with a broader surge in hospital development in Ahmedabad, where several corporate players have recently expanded healthcare capacity. Notable examples include expansions and new projects by groups such as Zydus and the Adani Group, driven in part by rising demand for integrated, high-quality medical care in the post-COVID era.
