Aster DM Healthcare invests Rs 96 crore to expand Whitefield hospital

Aster DM Healthcare has strengthened its footprint in Bengaluru with a ₹96 crore investment to enhance women and children’s healthcare services at its Whitefield facility. The expansion adds 159 beds, increasing the hospital’s overall capacity from 380 to 539 beds.

The newly launched unit, Aster Women & Children, has been developed to meet the rising demand for specialised maternal and paediatric care in Bengaluru and nearby areas.

This 159-bed centre is designed to offer comprehensive care for mothers and children, covering everything from preconception to delivery and beyond. Services include advanced maternity care, water birthing, laparoscopic gynaecology, foetal medicine and surgery, fertility treatments, and a dedicated child development centre. The facility also features a Level 3A neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), paediatric ICU, high dependency unit (HDU), and specialised neonatal and paediatric surgical services.

Dr Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, said, “As demand for high-quality maternal and pediatric care grows, it is essential to scale both capacity and capabilities. At Aster, we remain focused on expanding centres of excellence that deliver compassionate, world-class care.”

He added, “The expansion of our Women & Children facility at Whitefield reflects our commitment to advanced infrastructure and specialised expertise, ensuring comprehensive, end-to-end care for mothers and children under one roof, while setting new benchmarks in the region.”

At the inauguration, Dinesh Gundu Rao highlighted the increasing need for dedicated maternal and child healthcare facilities in rapidly growing urban centres like Bengaluru.

“The need for focused maternal and child healthcare facilities is growing rapidly in urban centres such as Bengaluru, where the demand for specialised and accessible healthcare continues to increase,” he said.

He added, “Dedicated institutions like Aster Women and Children Hospital play an important role in strengthening healthcare delivery by bringing comprehensive obstetric and pediatric services under one roof.”

According to him, such specialised centres help improve accessibility and contribute to better health outcomes for mothers and children.

The Whitefield upgrade is part of Aster’s broader expansion strategy in Bengaluru. With upcoming projects including a 500-bed hospital in Yeshwantpur and a 430-bed facility in Sarjapur, the company’s total bed capacity in Karnataka is expected to reach 2,573. This growth is set to further solidify Aster’s position among the leading private healthcare providers in the state.

The expansion at Whitefield underlines Aster DM Healthcare’s continued focus on scaling specialised care infrastructure. By enhancing capacity and introducing advanced services, the company aims to address growing urban healthcare needs while improving outcomes for mothers and children across the region.
