Patients across the NCR and neighbouring northern States will now have access to advanced liver transplantation and complex hepatobiliary treatment at Park Medi World’s Signature Hospital in Gurugram. Signature Hospital has introduced a dedicated programme offering liver transplant procedures along with specialised care for conditions affecting the liver, bile ducts and pancreas.
The facility is designed to manage a broad spectrum of liver-related conditions, from advanced liver disease requiring transplantation to complex disorders involving the bile ducts and pancreas. Services will include living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT), deceased-donor liver transplantation (DDLT) and paediatric liver transplantation.
The programme is being led by Dr Naganathan Selvakumar, supported by Dr Ravi Kumar and Dr Senthan. Along with transplant procedures, the team will undertake complex hepatobiliary surgeries and treatment for cancers affecting the liver, bile duct, gallbladder and pancreas.
A multidisciplinary team covering transplant surgery, hepatology, critical care, anaesthesia, radiology, pathology and transplant coordination will support patients throughout the treatment pathway.
Signature Hospital has established a dedicated transplant intensive care unit and a laminar-flow operating theatre for the programme. Continuous blood bank and transfusion support will also be available for transplant operations and post-operative management.
The surgical service will additionally address complex biliary reconstruction and procedures related to portal hypertension.
Several conditions contribute to India’s liver disease burden, including viral hepatitis, alcohol-related liver disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease.
Specialised liver transplant services remain concentrated in a limited number of centres. As a result, patients from Haryana and surrounding regions may have to travel to major cities for assessment and advanced treatment.
Located in Gurugram, the new programme is intended to serve patients from Haryana as well as western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and other parts of the NCR.
The programme will incorporate a detailed evaluation process for prospective living donors. The hospital said donors will undergo independent medical, psychological and social assessments before transplantation.
Approval of donor-recipient pairs will also be required from the Authorisation Committee constituted under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994, and the applicable rules.
According to the hospital, its transplant programme is registered with the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation.
The addition of a dedicated liver transplant service in Gurugram brings transplantation and complex hepatobiliary surgery together with specialised critical care and diagnostic support.
