KIMS Hospitals Introduces Tulsa-Pro for Targeted Prostate Cancer Treatment in Hyderabad

KIMS Hospitals in Hyderabad has introduced Tulsa-Pro, an advanced technology for treating prostate cancer. The facility is the first and only centre in India and South Asia to offer this treatment, according to an announcement by DSS Imagetech.

Developed by Canada-based Profound Medical Corp, Tulsa-Pro uses targeted ultrasound energy to treat cancerous prostate tissue without surgical incisions or radiation. The technology is designed to provide a personalised treatment approach while minimising damage to surrounding healthy structures.

The procedure enables doctors to visualise the prostate and nearby anatomical structures, precisely target affected tissue and monitor the treatment in real time. Ultrasound energy is delivered through the urethra, allowing physicians to focus on identified malignant areas.

According to DSS Imagetech Private Limited’s Business Head, Medical Division, the technology’s minimally invasive approach aims to support recovery and help eligible patients preserve urinary continence and erectile function. These potential benefits may help patients resume daily activities and maintain a better quality of life following treatment.

The introduction of Tulsa-Pro expands the range of technology-assisted options for prostate cancer care in India, offering eligible patients access to a targeted treatment approach. Individual suitability and expected outcomes will depend on clinical assessment.
