Manipal Hospital Yelahanka has introduced a cutting-edge radiation therapy facility, marking a first-of-its-kind advancement in cancer treatment in India, according to Dr. Jagannath Dixit, Director of Surgical Oncology at Manipal Hospital.
Speaking to the media in Hubballi on Monday, Dr. Dixit, along with senior consultants Dr. Vikram Maiya, Dr. Harish P., and Dr. Rajesh, highlighted how the Yelahanka unit is transforming cancer care by combining advanced technology, clinical expertise, and comprehensive services within a single facility.
Dr. Dixit stated that the hospital offers a wide range of advanced cancer treatments, including robotic-assisted surgeries, sophisticated minimally invasive procedures, and specialised interventions such as HIPEC and PIPAC for managing complex cancer cases.
Dr. Vikram Maiya noted that the field of radiation oncology has undergone significant progress in recent years, shifting from traditional methods to highly accurate and adaptive radiation therapies that improve treatment outcomes.
Adding to this, Dr. Harish P. emphasised that contemporary cancer treatment extends well beyond chemotherapy alone. He pointed out that the hospital delivers therapies that meet global standards at costs that are approximately 40% to 50% lower than those in Western nations.
Dr. Rajesh explained that advancements in diagnostic techniques now make it possible to identify several tumour-related symptoms at much earlier stages, enabling timely intervention and better patient prognosis.
