Fortis Healthcare Acquires Suguna Hospital in Bengaluru for ₹277 Crore

Bengaluru: Fortis Healthcare Ltd has strengthened its hospital network in Bengaluru by acquiring Suguna Hospital for approximately ₹277 crore. The all-cash deal covers the hospital’s operations, land and building and is structured as a slump sale.

The acquisition was completed on Wednesday through International Hospital Ltd (IHL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis Healthcare.

Located on Dr Rajkumar Road in Rajajinagar, north-west Bengaluru, Suguna Hospital began operations in 2006. The 110-bed facility has the potential to expand to around 150 beds and reported revenue of approximately ₹50 crore in FY26.

The deal strengthens Fortis Healthcare’s presence in north-west Bengaluru, adding to its existing Rajajinagar facility and People Tree Hospital in Yeshwanthpur. Together, these facilities provide the group access to approximately 500 potential beds in the corridor.

“This acquisition expands our presence in the city and specifically in the north-west Bengaluru corridor, which we believe is an underserved catchment. With Suguna Hospital in our portfolio, we now have around 1,000 operational beds in the city, including our operations and management (O&M) facilities,” said Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Managing Director and CEO of Fortis Healthcare.

Fortis Healthcare operates 37 healthcare facilities across 12 states, including joint ventures and operations and management facilities. Its network comprises more than 6,300 operational beds, including O&M beds, and approximately 400 diagnostic laboratories.

The acquisition marks another step in Fortis Healthcare’s expansion strategy, strengthening its footprint in Bengaluru and creating opportunities to increase hospital capacity in a key urban healthcare market.
