New Delhi: India is rapidly gaining recognition as a trusted hub for holistic and evidence-based wellness, according to Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush.
Speaking at the South Regional Summit on Ayush Medical Value Travel in Chennai, Jadhav highlighted the growing international appeal of India’s traditional healing systems. He noted that over 1,600 Ayush Visas have been granted to citizens from more than 75 countries, underscoring India’s emergence as a key destination for wellness tourism.
The minister stressed the relevance of India’s time-tested systems—Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy—in a world that is increasingly turning toward safe, scientifically supported, and sustainable healthcare practices, especially in the post-pandemic era.
Jadhav urged states to create wellness models that are culturally authentic and globally competitive, thereby enhancing India’s leadership in Ayush-based medical value travel and boosting global health outcomes and economic growth.
Held under the theme “Ayush Medical Value Travel – Promoting Wellness, Strengthening Global Ties”, the summit showcased India’s growing role in addressing the global demand for natural, preventive, and patient-centered healthcare.
