KIMS Hospitals, Mahadevapura, Bengaluru, has launched the KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute, a dedicated centre offering comprehensive cancer diagnosis, treatment, and support services. The facility was inaugurated by former Indian cricket star and National Cricket Academy (NCA) Head of Cricket, VVS Laxman, marking a major addition to Bengaluru’s oncology care infrastructure.
The inauguration brought together leading healthcare professionals, cancer specialists, survivors, community representatives, and dignitaries to mark the launch of a centre focused on delivering integrated and patient-focused cancer treatment.
A key highlight of the event was the ‘Samrohana Sarathi Survivor Program’, which celebrated the determination and resilience of cancer survivors. Individuals who had successfully battled cancer were recognised for their inspiring journeys and their efforts in spreading awareness and hope among patients and families facing similar challenges.
Strengthening its focus on cancer awareness and early detection, KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute, in partnership with Samrohana Cancer Foundation, announced the “134 Free Screening Camp Pledge.”
The initiative draws inspiration from VVS Laxman’s distinguished career, during which he represented India in 134 Test matches. Under the programme, 134 free cancer awareness and screening camps will be organised for underserved communities, highlighting the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.
The launch event also featured a fireside discussion with VVS Laxman and senior oncology experts, including Dr. Sandeep Nayak, Chairman – Oncology and Executive Director – Surgical Oncology & Robotic Surgery, and Dr. Suresh Babu M C, Director – Medical Oncology.
The conversation explored similarities between cricket and cancer treatment, emphasising teamwork, adaptability, resilience, and the importance of playing a long-term game—qualities that are equally vital in successful cancer care.
Developed in collaboration with KIMS MACS OncoSurgery, the KIMS RENOVA Oncology Institute brings together expertise in surgical oncology, robotic surgery, medical oncology, and multidisciplinary cancer management.
