New COVID Variant “Nimbus” Detected with Razor-Sharp Symptoms

A new COVID-19 subvariant named “Nimbus” (NB.1.8.1) is spreading across several countries, with a sharp rise in cases linked to a severe symptom dubbed razor-blade throat. Health officials say patients report extreme throat pain unlike previous variants.

The World Health Organization has classified Nimbus as a variant under monitoring. It currently accounts for over 11% of global samples, with clusters seen in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the U.S.

Doctors confirm that while the sore throat is more intense, hospitalization rates remain low, and existing vaccines are expected to offer protection. No surge in severe illness has been reported so far.

Citizens are advised to remain cautious, follow standard COVID protocols, and get tested if symptoms appear.
