President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated a newly developed, high-tech Cancer Centre at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, marking a major advancement in the city’s healthcare infrastructure.
The newly unveiled centre brings together all key areas of cancer care—medical, surgical, and radiation oncology—within a single integrated facility. It also includes a specialized day-care chemotherapy unit, aimed at providing efficient and patient-centric treatment.
Designed to offer personalized and comprehensive cancer management, the centre is equipped with the latest in diagnostic and therapeutic technology. The hospital emphasized its team-based approach that focuses on compassion and individual care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
During her visit, President Murmu also took time to check on the health of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital for a kidney-related ailment. She met his son, Hemant Soren, to offer her support and express concern for the senior leader’s condition.
The leadership at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital described the event as a significant milestone in their 70-year mission to provide quality, affordable healthcare. Dr. D.S. Rana, Chairman of the Trust Society, expressed plans to expand services beyond Delhi and eventually establish a full-scale medical college. Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of the Board of Management, said the centre would now enable the hospital to deliver seamless cancer treatment—from early diagnosis to post-therapy care—all in one location.
The inauguration signals a major step forward in enhancing oncology services in India and reaffirms the hospital’s commitment to blending cutting-edge medical technology with compassionate patient care.
