In a landmark recognition, the World Health Organization (WHO) has featured India’s AI-driven Ayush initiatives in its first technical brief on “Mapping the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Traditional Medicine.” The brief highlights India’s leadership in integrating AI with traditional systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Sowa Rigpa, and Homoeopathy.
India is the first country to launch a Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL), and its Ayush sector now stands as a US $43.4 billion market. Key innovations such as Ayurgenomics, Prakriti-based predictive diagnostics, and AI-enabled platforms like the SAHI and NAMASTE portals have been applauded for preserving and globalising India’s ancient medical wisdom.
Union Ayush Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav stated that these developments reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “AI for all” and India’s commitment to inclusive digital health growth. The Ministry of Ayush welcomed the WHO recognition as a significant step in strengthening evidence-based, personalised traditional healthcare on a global scale.
