Max Hospital, Saket—recognized as a Centre of Excellence (COE) for Hemodiafiltration (HDF)—recently hosted the country’s inaugural certification workshop dedicated to HDF, marking a significant step forward in nephrology training and dialysis care.
This one-day, intensive training session aimed to equip nephrologists with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in hemodiafiltration, an advanced dialysis technique. With a focus on improving clinical practice and patient outcomes, the programme included in-depth discussions on HDF concepts, interactive case studies, and hands-on experience with state-of-the-art dialysis equipment.
Over 50 healthcare practitioners from across India participated in the workshop. As part of the curriculum, attendees toured Max Hospital’s advanced dialysis unit, where they engaged directly with HDF-capable dialysis machines, a high-standard water purification system, and a centralized dialysate delivery setup.
The workshop was led by Dr. Dinesh Khullar, Chairman of Nephrology & Renal Transplant Medicine at Max Hospital, Saket. Emphasizing the clinician-driven nature of the initiative, Dr. Khullar stated, “This training programme reflects our commitment to advancing kidney care in India. Built by clinicians for clinicians, it fosters hands-on learning, peer exchange, and evidence-based practices to drive better patient care.”
Hemodiafiltration offers notable benefits over conventional dialysis, including enhanced removal of middle molecules and improved patient survival. Studies show that HDF can result in a 23% increase in survival rates compared to traditional high-flux hemodialysis, along with better overall quality of life for patients.
The successful completion of this certification workshop represents a key milestone in capacity-building for kidney care in India. Given the positive response, Max Hospital plans to conduct more such programmes under its COE banner, continuing its mission to empower nephrologists and improve standards in renal therapy nationwide.
