Medanta Acquires Indore Cancer Hospital for ₹30 Crore to Expand Oncology Services

Global Health Limited (Medanta) has announced plans to acquire an 80-bed cancer hospital in Indore, further expanding its oncology footprint in Central India. The deal will be executed through a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA).

As part of the agreement, Asian Institute of Oncology Private Limited will transfer its Indore business unit (AIOPL Indore) to Medanta as a going concern. The transaction is valued at ₹30 crore and includes the transfer of a long-term lease associated with the facility.

The cancer hospital is located just 500 metres from Medanta’s existing 175-bed multi-specialty hospital in the city. This proximity is expected to help streamline operations, improve patient movement, and maximise the use of infrastructure across both units.

Once integrated, the new facility will allow Medanta to introduce a full-scale oncology program in Indore, addressing a key gap in its service offerings while strengthening its specialty care portfolio.

Commenting on the development, Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO, Medanta, said:
“The takeover of the 80 bedded Cancer hospital in Indore is an extension of Medanta’s existing hospital in the city. With state-of-the-art oncology infrastructure, this facility enables us to add comprehensive cancer care, a previously missing specialty while further expanding our existing range of services. The hospital complements our Indore campus, enhancing patient access and creating operational synergies across the two facilities. This integration reinforces Medanta’s commitment to delivering advanced, patient-centric healthcare and strengthening our position as a leading provider of specialized high quality care in the region.”

The acquisition will expand Medanta’s capacity in cancer treatment, improve access to specialised care in Indore, and support better coordination between its healthcare facilities. It also marks a focused step toward strengthening its presence in Central India.

With this move, Medanta continues to sharpen its focus on advanced oncology services while scaling its regional network. The Indore expansion not only fills a key specialty gap but also positions the company to deliver more integrated and efficient healthcare in the region.
