Apollo CVHF Hospital Introduces Gujarat’s First Exclusive Robotic Cardiac Surgery Centre

Apollo CVHF Hospital has strengthened its advanced cardiac care services by launching Gujarat’s first dedicated robotic cardiac surgery unit and installing a second Da Vinci Xi Surgical System. The expansion marks a major step in enhancing minimally invasive heart surgery in the state.

The robotic cardiac surgery programme, led by Dr. Sudhir Adalati, Senior CVTS Surgeon, has already completed over 75 robotic heart surgeries. The milestone highlights the increasing adoption of robotic-assisted technology for treating complex cardiovascular conditions with greater precision.

Robotic cardiac surgery allows surgeons to perform selected heart procedures through small keyhole incisions using robotic instruments controlled by the surgeon and supported by high-definition 3D imaging. For suitable patients, this minimally invasive technique can help reduce blood loss, lower the risk of infection, ease post-operative pain, shorten hospital stays, and promote quicker recovery compared to conventional open-heart surgery.

Speaking on the expansion, Dr. Sameer Dani, CEO & Director, Apollo CVHF Hospitals and Director – Department of Cardiology, said the dedicated robotic cardiac surgery unit, along with the second Da Vinci Xi system, will improve access to advanced minimally invasive heart procedures while enhancing the hospital’s capability to deliver highly precise cardiac treatment across the region.

Dr. Sudhir Adalati said robotic-assisted surgery combines advanced technology with surgical expertise, enabling doctors to perform complex cardiac procedures with greater accuracy while supporting faster patient recovery and a better overall treatment experience.

Commander Jelson Kavalakkat, Chief Executive Officer, Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad, said the addition of another robotic platform strengthens the hospital’s robotic surgery ecosystem and reflects its continued focus on technology-driven, patient-centric healthcare with improved clinical outcomes.

With this latest expansion, Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad has further reinforced its robotic cardiac surgery programme, strengthening its position as a leading destination for advanced minimally invasive heart care in Western India.

The launch of Gujarat’s first dedicated robotic cardiac surgery unit underscores Apollo CVHF Hospital’s ongoing investment in cutting-edge healthcare technology. By expanding its robotic capabilities, the hospital aims to offer safer, more precise cardiac procedures while improving recovery and treatment outcomes for patients.
