Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospitals has launched a Rs. 106 crore expansion programme aimed at increasing its capacity to offer free cardiac treatment to patients in need.
The project at the Kasindra campus in Ahmedabad will add six Class-100 operation theatres, a Hybrid Cath Lab, and more beds across the Surgical ICU and Critical Care units. The expansion is expected to strengthen the hospital’s ability to handle complex cardiac procedures and surgeries.
The hospital, run by the Prashanti Medical Services and Research Foundation, has been providing free heart treatment and surgeries to economically disadvantaged patients for 26 years through its ‘Dil Without Bill’ initiative. The programme was also appreciated by former President of India, Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
The impact of the initiative was highlighted on August 9, when 20 children were discharged after successfully undergoing free open-heart surgeries. Following their recovery, the young patients joined together for a Garba celebration at the hospital, marking a joyful moment in their journey back to health.
The hospital management stated, “It is our commitment that no patient should be deprived of heart treatment due to lack of money. The hospital has also entered into MoUs with eight other states across the country, through which needy children from across India are benefiting from advanced and free heart treatment.”
With the expansion, Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospitals aims to extend its reach to more children and families who may otherwise struggle to afford advanced cardiac care. The initiative further underscores the role of accessible, quality healthcare in giving patients a chance at healthier lives.
