Apollo Knowledge and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), have entered into a strategic partnership to promote healthcare research, professional education and workforce development.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 29 September 2026 in the presence of Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Founder-Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group; Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited; and Prof. V Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice-Chancellor, BITS Pilani.
The collaboration will combine Apollo’s clinical expertise and healthcare infrastructure with BITS Pilani’s capabilities in engineering, technology and data science. Joint research initiatives will focus on addressing practical challenges in clinical care and healthcare delivery, with specific research areas to be finalised as the partnership progresses.
A key focus will be the introduction of Work Integrated Learning Programmes for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and healthcare administrators. These programmes will allow professionals to pursue higher qualifications without leaving their existing jobs. Proposed learning areas include hospital finance, healthcare logistics, supply chain management and pharmacy.
The agreement also provides for specialised technology education for students of The Apollo University, Apollo’s medical and nursing colleges, and institutions associated with Apollo Healthcare Academy. Additional programmes in allied health and healthcare technology are planned, integrating BITS Pilani’s competency centres with practical clinical exposure at Apollo hospitals.
Dr. Preetha Reddy highlighted the importance of combining technological advancement with the human dimension of healthcare. She noted that the collaboration would create opportunities for professionals to upgrade their skills while continuing clinical practice and encourage research based on challenges faced by healthcare providers in everyday patient care.
Prof. V Ramgopal Rao emphasised the role of engineering and technology in improving people’s lives. He said that bringing together BITS Pilani’s expertise in technology, data science and education for working professionals with Apollo’s clinical capabilities could create opportunities for meaningful healthcare research and workforce advancement.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen the connection between academic learning and clinical practice, while encouraging technology-driven solutions to healthcare challenges. It also reflects the growing importance of interdisciplinary education and research in preparing healthcare professionals for an evolving healthcare landscape.
