India’s rapidly growing medical devices industry will take centre stage at India Medical Device 2026, scheduled for August 7-8, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, in association with FICCI, the conference is expected to bring together key decision-makers from government, healthcare and the MedTech industry to discuss the sector’s future direction.
Held under the theme “Towards Viksit Bharat: Advancing India as a Global Hub for Quality Medical Devices,” the two-day event will serve as a platform for dialogue on strengthening India’s position in the global medical devices market through innovation, manufacturing and policy support.
A major attraction of the conference will be the address by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda on August 8. Speaking on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat,” the minister is expected to outline the government’s strategy for creating a self-reliant, innovation-driven and globally competitive medical devices ecosystem.
The event will also feature Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel, along with senior policymakers and healthcare leaders, including Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals; Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI); and Dr. M. Srinivas, Member (Health), NITI Aayog. They will be joined by industry CEOs, entrepreneurs, researchers, healthcare institutions and academic experts.
The conference agenda covers several priority areas that are shaping the future of India’s MedTech industry. Sessions will examine opportunities in domestic component manufacturing, stronger quality assurance systems, advanced testing infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled medical technologies, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), regulatory reforms, clinical evidence generation, export expansion, service and maintenance capabilities, and reimbursement mechanisms that support innovative treatments under Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
India’s medical devices market, currently valued at over USD 15 billion, continues to witness strong momentum. Government initiatives such as the National Medical Devices Policy 2023, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, the establishment of Medical Device Parks, regulatory improvements and greater emphasis on research and innovation have contributed significantly to the sector’s growth.
Apart from policy discussions, the conference will highlight emerging technologies, investment opportunities and start-up innovations. It is also expected to encourage collaborations between industry, academia, healthcare providers and international partners, helping accelerate technology transfer and the adoption of global best practices.
With participation from leading domestic and international stakeholders, the event aims to strengthen India’s role in the global MedTech value chain while supporting the country’s long-term vision of becoming a preferred destination for quality medical device manufacturing and innovation.
As India continues to expand its healthcare manufacturing capabilities, India Medical Device 2026 is expected to play a significant role in shaping future policies, fostering industry partnerships and promoting innovation.
