New Delhi, August 24, 2026: Max Healthcare, one of India’s largest private healthcare providers, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) to jointly develop and deliver a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. The collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening specialist medical education in India and building clinical expertise to address the evolving healthcare needs of the country’s rapidly ageing population.
The partnership will bring together the academic excellence of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the clinical capabilities of Max Healthcare to offer a one-year hybrid fellowship through the Max Institute of Medical Education (MIME), the academic arm of Max Healthcare. The programme will combine internationally benchmarked academic learning with immersive clinical training across Max Healthcare’s tertiary and quaternary care hospitals.
Designed for practicing physicians, the fellowship aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge, clinical competencies, and a multidisciplinary approach to the comprehensive care of older adults. Upon successful completion, participants will receive internationally recognized credentialing, further strengthening their professional capabilities in geriatric medicine.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Medical Director, Max Healthcare, said, “As India’s population continues to age, the need for specialised expertise in geriatric medicine has become increasingly important. Our collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow represents a significant step towards developing clinical leaders equipped to address the complex healthcare needs of older adults. By combining Max Healthcare’s rich clinical ecosystem with RCPSG’s internationally recognised academic standards, we are creating a programme that will strengthen specialist capacity and contribute meaningfully to improving patient care across the country.”
Professor Hany Eteiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow said, “We are delighted to be working alongside our colleagues at Max Healthcare on this important initiative. By bringing together the College’s long-standing expertise in postgraduate medical education with Max Healthcare’s extensive clinical experience, we have an opportunity to create a programme that supports doctors in meeting the increasingly complex needs of older patients. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to developing excellence in healthcare and ensuring clinicians are well prepared to deliver high-quality, compassionate care for ageing populations.”
