Sharda Hospital has achieved a major digital milestone by transitioning to a completely paperless hospital system, making it the first medical hospital in North India to do so. The transformation has been enabled through Presco’s Paperless IPD platform, ushering in a new era of streamlined, technology-driven healthcare delivery focused on speed, accuracy, and patient safety.
By adopting an end-to-end digital infrastructure, the hospital has significantly enhanced operational efficiency while promoting sustainable practices within a large tertiary care setting. Clinical documentation, patient records, and workflows are now managed digitally, ensuring seamless coordination across departments and reducing dependence on manual processes.
The shift also reinforces Sharda Hospital’s role as a leader in medical education. With instant access to real-time clinical data and advanced digital workflows, medical students gain practical exposure to modern hospital systems, effectively integrating classroom learning with real-world clinical experience.
Aligned with the Prime Minister’s Digital Health Mission, the initiative contributes to environmental conservation by eliminating paper usage across hospital operations. This move is expected to save millions of sheets of paper each year while strengthening audit preparedness, regulatory compliance, and readiness for participation in national digital health initiatives, according to the hospital.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Ram Murthi Sharma, medical superintendent, Sharda Hospital, said, “Going completely paperless is a transformative step for patient care. Instant access to accurate clinical information enables faster decision-making, stronger coordination among care teams, and improved patient safety, allowing clinicians to focus on delivering timely, high-quality care.”
