Aster DM Quality Care Invests Over ₹600 Crore in Advanced Medical Technology

Aster DM Quality Care Limited has invested more than ₹600 crore in advanced medical technology over the 18 months up to September 30, 2026, strengthening its capabilities in robotic surgery, oncology, cardiac care, neurology and diagnostics across its hospital network.

The investment forms part of the company’s overall capital expenditure of over ₹1,200 crore during the same period. Its technology infrastructure now includes 33 surgical robots, 44 catheterisation laboratories, 13 linear accelerators, 32 MRI machines and seven digital PET-CT systems.

During Q2 FY27, the company added three robots, two cath labs, one MRI machine, one LINAC and one digital PET-CT system. The new robots were installed at CARE Raipur, CARE Banjara and MIMS Kannur, while additional cath labs were established at CARE Bhubaneswar and MIMS Areekode. Aster CMI also received a new MRI system.

Its robotic technology portfolio includes Da Vinci Xi, SSI Mantra and ROSA platforms, along with specialised systems for brain and joint procedures. Other advanced capabilities include intraoperative electron radiation therapy and the Archimedes 3D navigation system for lung biopsies.

The technology expansion coincided with increased clinical activity. Robotic surgeries grew 39% year-on-year in Q2 FY27, while kidney transplants and joint replacements increased by 31% and 29%, respectively. Revenue from complex and high-end procedures (CONGO) also registered 16% growth.

The company reported 2.18 million patient visits during the quarter, a 12% year-on-year increase. Operational beds rose 4% to 10,611, with occupancy improving to 68% from 65%.

Aster also reported several notable clinical achievements, including NanoKnife surgery using irreversible electroporation in urology at Aster Medcity, Kochi, and a two-way ABO-incompatible paediatric kidney exchange at Aster CMI, Bengaluru. Other milestones included Kerala’s first uniportal robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery at Aster MIMS Calicut and the state’s first liquid-nitrogen cryoablation for breast fibroadenomas at Aster Medcity.

The company further strengthened its specialised services by launching three centres of excellence during the quarter: the ARISE Robotic Spine Institute at Aster CMI, Bengaluru; the CARE Cancer Institute at Ramkrishna CARE, Raipur; and the Fetal Medicine Centre of Excellence at Aster Medcity, Kochi.

The 32-bed CARE Cancer Institute offers PET-CT, radiotherapy and bone marrow transplant services. The ARISE institute focuses on advanced robotic spine care, research and surgeon training, while the fetal medicine centre provides specialised care supported by the Jananeeyam initiative.

As of September 30, 2026, Aster DM Quality Care operated 38 hospitals across 27 cities, with a total network capacity of 10,840 beds. Around 76% of its bed capacity is located in non-metro markets, reflecting its growing presence beyond major urban centres.

Financially, the company recorded 19% year-on-year revenue growth to ₹2,829 crore in Q2 FY27, while operating EBITDA increased 25% to ₹678 crore.

With continued investments in advanced technology, specialised treatment infrastructure and clinical expertise, Aster DM Quality Care is expanding its complex-care capabilities. The focus will now be on improving utilisation of these facilities and strengthening their contribution to the company’s growing hospital network.
