Bengaluru, September 12, 2026: HCG Hospital, India’s largest dedicated cancer network, organised an eco-friendly Ganesha-making initiative for cancer winners, including patients, survivors, and caregivers at its K.R. Road centre in Bengaluru today. Marking Ganesh Chaturthi, participants came together to create one Ganesha idol collectively, turning the activity into a shared celebration of creativity, devotion and togetherness.
It provided participants with a moment away from the routines of treatment and care, allowing them to engage in the joy and hope associated with the festive season. It brought art, celebration and sustainability into the hospital environment, creating a positive and meaningful shared experience.
Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Manisha Kumar, COO, HCG Karnataka Region, said, “At HCG, we believe that cancer care goes beyond treatment. It is also about creating moments that inspire, empower and celebrate life. Through initiatives like this, we want our winners, patients and caregivers to experience the joy of our festivals, express themselves through creativity and find moments of hope and positivity during their challenging healing journey”.
Guided by the organisers, patients, winners and caregivers each contributed to moulding and decorating the handmade clay idol at their own pace. The collaborative activity encouraged creative expression, meaningful interaction with loved ones and a sense of community among everyone taking part.
One of the participating cancer winners said, “Being in the hospital can sometimes make you feel like you are missing out on the things you normally look forward to during festivals. Today, getting the opportunity to make Ganesha with my own hands made me feel happy and connected to the celebration. It was a simple activity, but it gave us a sense of positivity and reminded us to focus on the good moments.”
The initiative reflects HCG’s continued focus on creating a supportive environment for patients, where emotional well-being, hope and positivity complement clinical care. Through activities that bring creativity and community into the hospital, HCG aims to make the cancer care journey more compassionate and patient-centric.
