Adani Group Plans 2,000-Bed Hospital in West Bengal’s New Town

The Adani Group has committed to establishing a large multi-specialty hospital with a capacity of 2,000 beds in New Town, West Bengal. According to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, half of the hospital’s capacity will be dedicated to providing free medical care for economically weaker patients.

The Chief Minister shared the development on Saturday while addressing members of civil society in his Bhabanipur Assembly constituency. During the interaction, he highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the state government over the past two months.

Speaking about the proposed healthcare project, Adhikari said, “The Adani Group has given a written commitment to build a 2,000-bed modern hospital in New Town. Of these, 1,000 beds will be for the poor and another 1,000 would be used for commercial operation.”

The meeting, organised by the Alipore Citizens’ Association, was attended by civil society members along with representatives from the business community.

While the hospital proposal has been confirmed, the state government did not reveal details regarding the investment size, project cost, construction schedule or the expected date of completion.

If implemented as announced, the project could significantly strengthen healthcare infrastructure in New Town by combining free treatment for underprivileged patients with commercial healthcare services under one facility.
