Apollo Hospitals, Medtronic introduce AI-driven ‘ICU of the Future’ in Hyderabad

Apollo Hospitals has joined hands with Medtronic to establish an AI-enabled 11-bed “ICU of the Future” at its Jubilee Hills facility in Hyderabad, aiming to transform critical care through advanced monitoring and connected digital technologies.

Created in partnership with Medtronic’s Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) business, the new intensive care unit is designed to support clinicians with real-time patient data, enable early identification of clinical deterioration, and improve decision-making in high-acuity care.

The collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, Manpreet Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Apollo HealthAxis, and Mandeep Singh Kumar, Managing Director and Vice President – India Subcontinent Countries, Medtronic.

The facility integrates Medtronic’s patient monitoring solutions with Apollo Hospitals’ expertise in critical care, creating a digitally connected environment that supports personalised treatment while also serving as a platform for evaluating and advancing next-generation healthcare technologies.

Speaking on the partnership, Mandeep Singh Kumar said the initiative reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to strengthen patient care through technology and clinical collaboration. He added that insights generated from real-world clinical settings will help shape future innovations that support healthcare professionals and improve patient outcomes.

Emphasising the importance of timely interventions in intensive care, Dr. Sangita Reddy said critical care demands accurate decisions at every stage, and the adoption of data-driven technologies should ultimately lead to better clinical outcomes and enhanced patient care.

According to Jason Case, Vice President, R&D, Acute Care Monitoring, Medtronic, the facility will also function as a collaborative innovation hub, bringing together clinicians and technology developers to better understand challenges in intensive care and develop smarter connected solutions.

Senior leaders from Apollo Hospitals and Medtronic attended the inauguration, including Kate Benedict, Dev Joshua, Gauri Joglekar, Divya Prakash Joshi, Tejesvi Rao, Dr. Sai Praveen Haranath, and Dr. Rahul Khandelwal.

The launch of the AI-powered ICU highlights the growing integration of digital technologies into critical care. By combining clinical expertise with advanced monitoring systems, Apollo Hospitals and Medtronic aim to enhance patient safety, support better clinical decisions, and accelerate innovation in intensive care delivery.
