Kauvery Hospital has launched “Kauvery First Responders,” a network of bike ambulances aimed at delivering faster emergency medical support across the city, particularly in areas affected by traffic congestion and limited road access.
The first phase includes 10 bike ambulances covering Kauvery Hospital’s Alwarpet, Vadapalani, Radial Road and Maa Kauvery locations. Operated by trained medical responders, the bikes can reach emergency sites quickly, assess patients and provide first-response care while coordinating with the hospital and conventional ambulance services.
The bikes are not designed for patient transport. Each is equipped with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), oxygen support and an emergency medical kit. The AED can analyse cardiac rhythms and deliver a shock when clinically indicated.
Supported by 5G connectivity, webcams and GPS/live tracking, responders can remain connected with hospital teams for real-time coordination and transition of care. Emergency assistance is available at 044-40006000.
Thiru P. Pakalavan, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic – South), Chennai, attended the launch as Chief Guest.
