Max Healthcare Announces ₹1,400 Crore Hospital Project in Lucknow

Expanding its footprint in North India, Max Healthcare has approved a ₹1,400 crore investment to build a new 712-bed hospital in Lucknow. The project will come up on a five-acre site at Shaheed Path and is expected to become operational by FY30.

The upcoming facility will be Max Healthcare’s second hospital in the Uttar Pradesh capital and is aimed at meeting the rising demand for advanced healthcare services in the state. The announcement was made during the company’s Q4 FY26 earnings declaration.

The hospital chain has been aggressively expanding beyond metro cities as part of its long-term growth strategy. Max Healthcare is focusing on both greenfield and brownfield projects while working towards its target of operating 10,000 beds by FY2030.

As part of this expansion drive, the company recently moved to acquire a 58.4% stake in Odisha-based Kalinga Hospital in a deal valued at around ₹300 crore. It has also signed an agreement to acquire Yerawada Properties Pvt. Ltd. for developing a 450-bed hospital in Pune.

“We have completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in Kalinga Hospital and the team has already begun integration. In parallel, work has commenced on the upgradation and expansion of the hospital, enabling us to extend high-quality healthcare services in a fast-growing region.” said Abhay Soi.

On the infrastructure front, the company recently operationalised a 400-bed brownfield tower at its Saket facility in April 2026. During the same period, it added 160 beds at Mohali and another 118 beds at Nanavati Max.

Financially, Max Healthcare reported a 10% year-on-year rise in gross revenue for the March quarter, reaching ₹2,664 crore, largely supported by higher outpatient volumes. EBITDA increased 8% to ₹682 crore, while net profit rose to ₹387 crore from ₹376 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The hospital network recorded a bed occupancy rate of 75% during the quarter. Average revenue per occupied bed stood at ₹77.9 thousand, slightly higher than ₹77.1 thousand reported a year earlier.

For the full FY26 period, the company posted gross revenue of ₹10,538 crore, marking a 10% increase over the previous year. EBITDA for the fiscal rose 14% to ₹2,368 crore.

Max Healthcare ended FY26 with a total capacity of 4,966 beds, compared to 4,654 beds in FY25. The company also generated ₹1,541 crore in net cash during the year, while its net debt stood at ₹1,908 crore.

With its latest Lucknow project and multiple expansion initiatives across India, Max Healthcare continues to strengthen its position in the country’s healthcare sector. The company’s focus on capacity addition and regional growth reflects rising demand for quality medical infrastructure in emerging urban markets.
